Shanti Ghosh. Shanti Ghosh (Ghose) was born in Calcutta to nationalist Debendranath Ghose. In 1931, she founded the Chhatri Sangha and became its secretary. Inspired by Profullanandini Brahma, she joined the revolutionary Jugantar Party. In December 1931, Shanti Ghose and Suniti Chaudhary, shot dead the district Magistrates. In 1939, she was released as per amnesty treaty between the government and Mahatma Gandhi. After release from prison, she joined the Indian National Congress. She also participated in the Communists movements, but she never participated in Quit India Movement.
