Both (A) and (R) are correct and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).. Most of the major rivers of the peninsula such as the Mahanadi, the Godavari, the Krishna and the Cauvery flow eastwards and drain into the Bay of Bengal. But Narmada & Tapi flow westwards as these does not form valleys and instead flow through faults created due to the bending of northern peninsula during the formation of Himalayas.
