I, II, III, IV. Maharaja Hari Singh of Jammu and Kashmir signed the Instrument of Accession with the Indian Government on October 26, 1947. The Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir convened on October 31, 1951. The Constitution of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir was formally adopted by Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir on November 17, 1956 and the Constitution entered into force on January 26, 1957. Article 370 of the Constitution of India was a temporary provision which grants special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was bicameral legislature consist of Assembly and Council. The tenure of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was six years. Hence the tenure of the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir was six years. Note: On 5th August, 2019, Government of India introduced Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganization) Bill, 2019, to repeal Article 370 (Except the first clause of Article 370) of the Constitution. Under Article 370(3), there is a provision that President on recommendation of the Parliament has the power to amend or cease the implementation of Article 370, through a public notification. President of India gave his assent to Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganization) Act, 2019 on 9th August, 2019 which made Jammu and Kashmir a Union territory with a Legislative Assembly along with Union Territory status to Ladakh without a Legislative Assembly.
